Hello :). I have a monster of a character I need drawn. The character isn't mine, but is from some old roleplaying, and I want to finally get a clear reference of their appearance.

Since this character isn't mine, I don't have an exact mental image and welcome the artist's interpretation of how to draw them, but the details need to be accurate in terms of what is drawn.

In general quality I'm hoping for:
  • Steady line-work (not just a sketch)
  • Full flat colours
  • Not necessarily a realistic style, but not a cute or kids-cartoon style - if you're comfortable drawing the Cyberdemon from Doom that's the right ballpark for this thing

This is for 1 pose of the character, shading is optional (if you're willing to do it I'll be grateful but it's not required), and no background. Basically I'm not looking for a masterpiece so much as a clear picture of "This is what they look like", so I need someone comfortable with frequent communication, sharing WIP images and making adjustments. A good chunk of the budget is for the complex details and patience to get them right.

I normally pay by PayPal, and am flexible in payment points. A couple of examples I can offer are 50% when a full sketch is approved, and the other 50% when the picture is done, or 10% up front, 30% for approved sketch and 60% upon completion. Like I said, I like communication, we can talk :).

With all that said, here's the character's profile.

The Executioner
"The Executioner" is a man encased within a large (over 8 feet tall) demonically-possessed cyborg. It is roughly humanoid in shape, and stands over 8 feet tall when upright. The overall tone of its appearance is a mix between robotic and inhumanly organic components, similar to the Cyberdemon from Doom for the "hybrid" effect. It has a greater ratio of metal components, which resemble this style of creepy/evil/sinister looking armour. The Executioner's right leg is heavily armoured with metal plating and servo assisted, and its lower left leg has been replaced with a demon limb from the knee down, black skin as tough as armour ending in a brass cloven hoof. Its right arm is armoured from the shoulder and changes into blackened demonic flesh as you go down, which fuses into the back end of an STG44 assault rifle. Slung under the barrel is a viciously barbed blade around three feet long, and where a normal bayonet would be, it has a halberd-style blade and long spike made of demonic black metal. Its left arm is replaced by a mass of black metallic tentacles, some randomly ending in claws or spikes. In its chest lives a demonic hydra-like creature melded into the metal, but it can be inactive/at rest and drawn like a large 3D-like engraving. From its back sprouts four multi-segmented metal limbs, similar to this, but with thicker and square rods rather than round. Fully unfolded they are several metres long, and end with large hooked blades, with different weapons that deploy from beneath said blades: 2 have chainsaw blades, 1 has a drill with a hollow nozzle in the tip, and the last has a railgun. An MG42 heavy machine gun is swivel-mounted on each of its shoulders. Lastly, The Executioner's head is a heavily-armoured helmet that contains a human face with only the left eye visible, the rest covered up by a demonic visage warped into the metal, its right eye an evil red. It should be stood with all of its weapons spread/raised to strike (pose idea).

Hello :D. I moderate a forum for fiction-writing enthusiasts, and we're looking to commission an artist for a banner featuring the characters of members that were active during a certain period. This is a fairly big project for us and only the second of its kind, but I've tried to organise the details as clearly as I can.

The commission will involve:
>Individual images of each character in the commission, around 40 in total (39 I believe). The characters belong to different people, so they should have a version of their character's artwork that stands by itself.
>A few characters come together as a team (2 teams I believe), and should be drawn as a single piece even in their "individual" images. These characters were still counted separately in the above headcount.
>In addition to individual images, the whole range of characters will be arranged in a group image with a central line of text reading "Neo-Duelist League Class Of 2011-2012".

Our current plan to carry out the commission is this:
>The payment for the entire commission will be $300USD or its equivalent, to be transferred via PayPal.
>Profiles have been written for each character describing their appearance, desired pose and so on. The characters vary in complexity, available references and such, but we've tried to limit the requests to only half a minute to a minute's reading while remaining informative and accurate.
>Assuming we get some offers, after a short period (current plan is until next weekend) we'll select one or more artists. Artists selected will have an "audition", where they are paid $7.50 in advance and given one character profile to draw. Based on these images, we'll pick an artist to proceed with for the rest of the commission. A further $67.50 will be paid in advance for the 2nd through 10th characters, then $75 more in advance for 11-20 and 21-30 each, and the final $75 will be paid upon delivery of the final set of characters and the finished group shot. This approach is negotiable, but gives an idea of our intentions.

What we want artistically from this commission:
>A clean and lightweight artstyle that looks good with simple details. The payment works out to roughly $7.50 per character, and while we'd love an artish to pour lavish effort onto every image, we cannot afford to fairly pay for such quality. Any art style that's consistent and shows distinctive features (e.g. the My Little Pony cartoon) would be great, and past examples would be an appreciated bonus.
>The artist needs to be flexible in what they can draw. The characters belong to around 3-dozen different people, and include (but are not limited to) humans of various ages, fantasy humanoids (elves, demons, fairies etc.), furry characters, animals/Pokémon, robots, and general themes including medieval fantasy, other "sword era" cultural fantasy (e.g. samurais), magic fantasy, supernatural, sci-fi, and modern day. If you only feel comfortable drawing certain things this will likely be an issue.
>Given the nature of some characters, we would prefer to avoid heavily realistic styles, as some of them are notably unrealistic. Other than that we're open-minded, whether the style is Eastern anime, Western comics or something else we'll consider it for audition.

Lastly, for reference here is the previous year's banner, which had more characters and was done on a far smaller budget. We're hoping to do even better this year, so offer away. Even if you aren't picked for this specific project, we do other smaller commissions and might approach you for one based on this :).
